Why a UK apostille alone is not enough

This is the mistake that sends people back to square one. An FCDO apostille makes a UK document valid in countries that belong to the Hague Convention, such as France, Germany or the United States. The UAE is not a member. So an apostille on its own will not be accepted there.

Instead, a UK document for the UAE has to go through a full legalisation chain: a notary or solicitor, then the FCDO apostille, then the UAE Embassy in London, and finally the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Every step depends on the one before it, and skipping any of them means the UAE will reject the document. That is the whole reason this process trips people up, and why it pays to get it right the first time.
